Laguna de Rincón o CabralThe town of Cabral, at only seven kilometers from Barahona, is named in honor of the independence fighter and hero, José María Cabral, who was also president of the Republic in 1865. One of its main resources, the Lagoon Rincón or Cabral, is the largest body of fresh water in the country with an extension of 47 square km.

The Carnival, however, is the most significant event and the real attraction in the community. It is celebrated at Easter (Holy Week) and is a showcase of colorful devils (cojuelos) that fill the streets with color and joy. The Cachúa, the devil cojuelo par excellence, wears scraps of paper on his costume.
