Tourism in Barahona

San Rafael Beach

One of the main beaches and the most frequented in the whole area, is a combination of the forceful oceanic waves and a natural swimming pool, created by nature, at the mouth of the San Rafael River. Added to that is the splendor of the surrounding green mountains and the coastal areas that decorate both the coastline and the beach.

Bahia de las Aguilas

This beach is located in the grounds of the national park, the Jaragua, 31 kilometers south of Pedernales and 135 km from Barahona. Here you can actually see the sunset reflected in the water during golden twilights.

Villa Miriam Spa

This is a natural spa with very cold water, ideal for a dip in a natural environment, far removed from the noise of the city. Reservations can be made to visit it through the hotels in the area or by contacting authorized tourist guides.

Los Patos Beach

and the coast of Enriquillo with La Chorrera spa.

Along the Barahona-Enriquillo highway there is a beach that offers a truly unique coastal view: Los Patos Beach.

Playa El Quemaito

It gets its name from the warmth of its waters, sand and gravel ["quemar" in Spanish means to burn] that highlight the location of the island in"the same path as the sun". At 10 kilometers from the city, along the Barahona-Paraiso highway, Quemaíto Beach gets the white foam from the waves of the crystalline Caribbean Sea, and has a strip of golden sand that is fused with the green mountainous landscape.
